Runaway and street children call footpaths, railway stations, bus stands and other public places as their homes. They are deprived of the basic rights of education, nutrition and good health. Besides, they are vulnerable to various atrocities like trafficking, abuse and child labour.
As a result, they suffer severe emotional and mental setbacks along with the physical torture and ultimately end up as alcoholics, drug addicts, gangsters and other antisocial elements.
Through this project SAFE conducts watchdog operations on Gorakhpur railway stations, bus station and other strategic location in search of street children. Initially we provide intensive emotional support for these children through counseling and produce them before Child Welfare Committee for further action. Till date we could successfully rescue 80 children and reunited them with their families.
